PLL GAME OVER: Reaction.

Well last night was the Pretty Little Liars episode we’ve all been waiting for; the ending. Considering the last two seasons we’ve suffered, I was content with the reveal of A.D as it became obvious it was only relevant to this season. Putting that into consideration, Alex was the perfect ending to someone avenging the death of Charlotte. Every other aspect of the show and episode and ending however, had me pretty disappointed.

I had unrealistically high hopes, to no fault but my own, which I am now very much regretting, but I was HOPING PLL would take a risk and shock us all, but considering another twin theory was expected by many, elements of shock were minor. I think my high hopes came from the promo and my own theories (Caleb, Ezra or Ali were my DREAM A’s), but also other TV show finales, such as the recent ending to ‘The Vampire Diaries’, which was perfect in every aspect and had me crying for hours like a little baby. And I was hoping for some form of content closure after 7 years of my life wrapped up in a mystery show with so many questions, not more questions and sentences without full stops

Of course there is positives, without a doubt. I’ve loved the programme and I don’t want to slate it to the ground when there are good (although minor) aspects. The acting within the show is incredible along with the directing etc. Troian Bellisario was outstandingly amazing, as was Janel Parrish, not to mention every other character on their usual standards. Just for me, since season 4 the show has been lacking a concentrated story line and full element of mystery, especially these past two seasons which have just been completely lost on me.

I’m so happy also with how Alex was revealed and what a character she was. A stone cold sociopath craving no sympathy, just thriving in her actions. Her mirroring reveal was SO much better than when Cece just turned around in a hoodie. This along with Troian’s acting made the episode somewhat worth it.

And then Mona. Oh my favourite, what a character. She won the game and that makes me so happy. ‘A’ really came round full circle in such a subtle but instinctive manner that did Mona so well. Her fake police man boyfriend and using everyone around her for her own motive gave me the vibes of when I loved the show when she owned the game, back when things made more sense.

So now we’re onto the ranting and the ramblings, as I can safely say my two paragraphs of happiness will be deeply outweighed by my never-ending questions and somewhat faults with this ending. Let’s start with the actual ending. Like please, can they just leave it with Mona doing us all proud winning the twisted life she created and NOT making it seem like Alison disappearing and causing it all was normal and trying take two with the IRRELEVANT Addison who nobody would even bat an eyelid at. I think everyone’s eyes rolled when they were just waiting for the “I think I heard her scream.”

There’s also the fact that the way it began holds no relevance whatsoever. Like in reality, this was a show about an iconic bitch who went missing. Alison then turned into a middle-aged housewife and A.D quite frankly had nothing to do with her and no care for her. Like ???? HOW. Alison was such a minor role in these seasons and they could have done it so much better. Too much from the early seasons has been forgotten, lost and unanswered and that’s the most annoying part. From the five-year time jump, PLL has basically been a completely different show with new motives and a new family focus of the Hastings.

Then there’s Wren. Shady Wren. Who has been done so dirty. I did not spend my years analysing this man’s shady behaviour for him to become a fake Spencer’s lap dog and then DIE. So many parts of his story and time on the show doesn’t make sense, he could have had a better link to the plot, along with Melissa, if the story had taken a partially different route they could have been done better. Wren has been a predicted A since the Charles reveal, and for him to just die barely even helping Alex just wasn’t enough for me.

I was also lost on the need for a one year time jump. Like why did Alex take a whole year off just to come back and try to be Spencer again? It made no sense to me whatsoever. Much like the fact that JENNA and a HORSE solved who A.D was. How have these girls spent seven seasons hiding from anonymous murdering stalkers to reveal one in half an hour with the help of their biggest enemy and a horse? Like come on. It was so rushed in that the finale spent an hour focusing on the romances, which although they’re cute and everyone got their happy ending, have always been a side plot, or supposedly, to what the show really is, a MYSTERY, a concept which the writers lost and upsets me a lot. So an hour on romance and then 40 mins on A.D? Just shows the lack of relevance to the entire thing really doesn’t it.

¬†I feel like I have so many more questions and annoyances about this ending, and I really didn’t want to feel this way about the end so I need to stop talking about it. In reality, this is the direction it took, and it’s over. I don’t want to sound entirely negative as I love the show and in consideration of how boring and lost I’ve found the last season and a half, the last five episodes were majorly good in comparison. I just wanted more. I feel like to introduce a new and complex character like Alex and expect it all to be over was a stretch and was bound to leave people with more questions, which isn’t really fair. Although her story and flashbacks made sense so much more than Charlotte’s which did make me very happy, I don’t feel like it’s over. The final scene of the girls made me cry (right up until they ruined it with Addison) so I feel like that’s a happy note of closure.

Overall it’s safe to say I’m glad it’s over and I don’t have to focus apparently more time and energy than the writers into theorising who A is, even though I will miss it, and I am planning on rewatching the whole thing just to piece it back together. Hope you’ve enjoyed this rambled mess of thoughts on the finale, please comment your own as I’d love to read them.

Hopefully I’m back to regular posts as it’s summer so.

Thanks for reading. Until next time.

13 Reasons Why ‘Thirteen Reasons Why’ is SO Important.

Wow I still have a blog. Who knew?? Apparently not be considering, as I clearly predicted in my last blog post three months ago, I’ve been drowning in college work. I’ve also not really had anything I’ve wanted to write about considering I spend my life eating sleeping or at college or work. But this week I found something so important that I wanted to write my views on.

13 Reasons Why.

post 2

Netflix’s latest phenomenon that has the entire world talking, and in good reason and for ONCE for something that beyond needs addressing. In case anyone’s been living under a rock however, I’ll bring you up to speed. WARNING SPOILERS FROM HERE ON OUT PEOPLE.

Thirteen Reasons Why is a 13 episode long TV series based on the book by Jay Asher, about a girl named Hannah Baker, who commits suicide and leaves behind 13 tapes. Each tape focuses on one character who impacted Hannah’s life, and each episode focuses on one tape, however it is all listened to from the perspective of Clay Jenson, ideally the one character not guilty of negatively impacting Hannah’s life completely. Focusing on various tough topics alongside suicide, 13 reasons why really focuses on the tough reality of high school today, although definitely from the harsh negative not a variable in between, even though it does show some good parts its predominantly negative which is probably one of the only bad things about the show. But let’s not skip ahead, here are my 13 reasons why it is so important and should be watched by everyone;

  1. It doesn’t shy away from the hardest topics and scenes. This might sound like a terrible thing to be good, but no. In TV today, harsh topics often go unmentioned, and when they are it definitely comes in euphemistic fashion. Although they are awful scenes to watch, and I know many people skipped them, the scenes of suicide and also rape in the show are not shied away from. The fact that they are hard to watch identifies just how awful these things are, that actually happen, if you weren’t already horrified or aware that is.
  2. It also shows how everyone is affected by suicide, especially the families. It doesn’t hide from the idea that you’re leaving something behind (and no not the tapes), you’re entire life. And things could get so much better, you have a whole life to lead to give up even if things are beyond awful and you feel alone, there’s always someone who is still stood by you.
  3. God forbid we needed a blunt a lesson as words hurt, but that is made very clear. Even if you think you’re making a joke or not bothering someone, just be very careful what you say because you cannot rely on someones opinion. At first I thought this was such a 5-year-old me lesson, but in reflection I decided it’s probably more important now than then. I can definitely say I’m more prone now to speaking without thinking, and also at 18 years old some people may think oh they’ll be fine don’t be childish. But words hurt. It’s something to remember.
  4. It also addresses the ever important, controversial and realistic topic of rape which again is a hard one to display at time it is more common than ever before. And it again sheds light on sides of the situation many people do not understand and how a survivor would come to terms and live with what’s happened to them, and also the effects it has on the people closest to them.
  5. It also shows the side of victim blaming which is ever-present in today’s society and honestly makes me so sick to even think about. I see at least one comment a day on social media about victim blaming or protecting a white male who committed such a crime, and honestly it just makes me so angry. But it’s this type of topical issue the show was not afraid of, stepped up to and portrayed well and realistically.
  6. In continuation of point two, this programme says that there is always someone who cares about you. To never forget that you are loved, especially if you can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel.
  7. Also in light of number 5 they show how rapists can be protected in our society and not made out to be a criminal. All you have to do is look at a news headline or go on social media and you’ll see it. Rape culture is such a rising problem that obviously was not the key topic of the programme but was probably addressed more in 13 episodes than I have ever seen televised in my entire life.
  8. Now for this one I am in no way neglecting the horrible things each character did, but there are also references made to horrible things that can go on in a teenagers life people may be unaware of that they hide or act out because of, eg. Justin’s mother and Courtney’s sexuality struggle. This enlightens more the idea to be nice to people because no one truly knows what goes on behind closed doors.
  9. Post Hannah’s death her school puts up suicide prevention posters which are soon teared down by Alex referencing the fact that you can’t prevent something that’s already happened. Which is definitely the biggest problem with this topic overall. We talk about it more when the statistics are high, barely acknowledging that people are still dying when they’re low. It’s a topic that needs constant attention, mental health is so important 365 days a year, not just mental health awareness week.
  10. Following on from this the idea that schools aren’t doing enough, letting students watch and discuss the programme would probably be more than we’re doing now. It’s! Important! Show! It! Fix! It!
  11. It’s amazing in general that it’s got everybody talking all at once about controversial topics that, as you’ve probably gathered but I’m going to keep saying it, need more attention until prevention is important and actually working. It’s helping more people see that suicide and rape are common in our society for all the wrong reasons. Hannah Baker has left a lasting effect on your life and so she flipping should.
  12. I have read a few things since watching the programme debating whether their should be a season two until I saw one that really struck out and basically said that it shouldn’t because we should be left wondering. The cliffhangers should play on our mind as though it was our real life, and we can see how easily we possibly missed Alex’s signs (if he committed suicide that is) and how we should continue to talk about it. A lasting effect.
  13. Now I did have a point thirteen until I realised it was basically repeating three things I already said, which many of these points probably are let’s be honest. But another thing – if you didn’t watch ‘Beyond the Reasons’ when you finished the show go back and do it because it’s the characters and some experts discussing all the problems I’ve highlighted SO much better than I just have, and again for all the right reasons.

If you’ve read all this and haven’t already seen the show you definitely should, it’s something I personally think everyone should watch, especially those who don’t know much about the topics (and those of you who can watch after I basically spoiled half of it). But like I said I am so glad someone has created something speaking about things people are so afraid to talk about, even though they’re so common. And we need to get to a stage where we can talk about these things for the right reasons not an endless amount of wrong ones.

Hopefully I’ll be back with a blog post soon but I can’t promise anything. (See you in 3 months blog it’s been fun.)

Thanks for reading. Until next time.

2016 Favourites

Hello 2017. *Insert obligatory new year new me shit here.* Let’s be honest, these next few months will 100% be me trying to post and drowning in college work instead. I am trying to find a weekly upload time that I will actually stick to, because to be honest it would be nice for this blog to actually go somewhere rather than the bedrooms of me and everyone I beg to read. Hi Facebook friends lots of love xxx

But back to obligatory writings, and my favourite things of 2016. I have a lot of areas to cover and things to include, let me know if you want info on anything else and any posts you want from me in the comments, and let’s jump straight in.

As a music lover and concert addict, although my concert count for last year was lower than usual, this year should definitely make up for that. But last year’s albums made up for it too. Even though it only came out in November, Little Mix’s Glory Days was DEFINITELY my favourite album of the year. It’s just full of feel good catchy songs, like the girls always are, and no one can deny these four are dropping banger after banger at the moment. The album does not disappoint. I also can’t go without mentioning Illuminate by Shawn Mendes. B e a u t i f u l. Wow. I mean this boy has achieved many of my life goals and is only a few months older than me. His album reflects his passion and talent and I cannot wait to see him put it all on stage in April. James Arthur’s album Back from the Edge was another album full of talent and passion, but held a deeper meaning, connecting with his struggles with mental health, so many of the songs would definitely reassure someone of the same position. His songs are just so easy to listen to and love. Trying to sing them however… give me a few more weeks and a little bit of heartbreak. And finally I can’t not mention Dangerous Woman by Ariana Grande. Every album mentioned features insane voices and Ariana’s definitely comes to match. Her songs have the same feeling as LM with feel good songs for women that are a little bit PG when appropriate, if you know what I mean. I could probably list you all four of these album track lists in order because this is all I had on repeat in 2016.

Now TV addict Niamh watched some fab series in 2016. It can go without saying I loved Stranger Things, but I can’t bring myself to write what everyone else has. NBC’s Chicago PD has been amazing this past season. I used to love The Bill and this has that sort of esq to it with police drama, it also has one of my favourite actresses (Sophia Bush) and onscreen couples and I just can’t not love it. Now ABC has the best Thursday night TV on planet earth and it deeply upsets me that I’m not American and cannot fully appreciate it. Instead I have to wait and watch it … other ways. (On Netflix in like 8 years YAWN no, I’ll drop you some links wink wink.) ((If I never post again here is why.)) ANYWAY they air Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder and Grey’s Anatomy all in one night and honestly that is just the best night of TV ever. If you’re American and don’t appreciate that then never talk to me. When I go to New York in March I actually might just stay in the hotel on the Thursday to live my dream. Big plans. These three TV shows have produced such amazing seasons for 2016 and I can’t wait to see what this year brings. If you’ve never watched any of these shows I can safely say you’re missing out, every single one is 10/10 trust me. (And the first seasons of some are on Netflix I think lol.) ¬†Now as much as I love PLL 2016 shall not be discussed as there were some good eps there were many… many pointless ones and for that I pray that these last 10 in April do one of my favourite programmes justice.

In terms of films I’d not seen many new ones last year, although the list of ones I’ve wanted to see has been as long as my arm. One I did see and LOVED was London has fallen. I love the first film Olympus has fallen and even though it was basically the same storyline, it’s a genre I just love. Along with White House Down, films where they try to attack the president etc, although scary, are always so so good. I definitely think I can be more of an Action film kind of girl, than chick flicks, but I do love a good chick flick. I did see Me before You aswell and cried a bit but not as much as I expected. It was a really lovely film though, definitely worth a girly night in watch. I only read a few books too, I read Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour on holiday, and really loved how realistic it seemed. It wasn’t a rushed and forced love story, and it was really original from things I’ve read before. Similarly on originality was We Were Liars. Oh. My. GOD. READ THIS BOOK. I read it all in one night, I didn’t go to sleep until 4am because I was so addicted. I can’t even explain it because I’ll give it away. Just read it. It was amazing.

Finally for the chunk we’ve all been waiting for. Make-up. I purchased a set of Morphe brushes this year off beauty bay for such a good price and I don’t think I can fault them. I’m no make-up expert, as much as I’d love to be or say I am, but it is safe too say that they do the job. My two ride or die eyeshadow palettes have been Fortune Favours the Brave by Makeup Revolution which you can read about here, and, even though I only got it for Christmas, Too Faced’s Chocolate Bon Bon palette is my life! Just so amazing both of them I cannot fault either product or price. Another palette I have loved has been the Sleek Face Contour Kit in Light. It comes with a lovely powder contour which is so easy to blend and a champagne highlight, which I find can rub off a bit of makeup sometimes but overall is good and a gorgeous shade. The Falsies¬†mascara by Maybelline¬†was originally a love hate relationship but now is definitely a love, considering I have naturally long lashes it’s hard to find a none-clumpy mascara, but this one just adds that last bit of length they need. And finally I can’t not mention NYX liquid lipsticks. Whether their suede, lingerie or soft matte creams, once I got the hang of applying them, none of them have disappointed me. The suede ones are probably my favourite, but they only have two natural-ish shades which is upsetting. Dear NYX please make more.

Well that was quite the ramble, no change there of course. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year! Stick to those resolutions you’re going great, do it for me because I’m definitely not.

Thanks for reading. Until next time.

A Merry Little Update and a Few Things I’m Loving.

Starting this blog post much like the last one, with a month’s distance between and a ‘long time no see’. And I wish I had more of an excuse. To be honest I’ve been avoiding blogging almost as much as I’ve been avoiding college work. After an 8 week-long term any ounce of energy left in me has just about got me out of bed, and I’m not even being dramatic. My motivation is at an all time low but I’ve decided to be clich√©, but actually, really, seriously, stick to it. New year, new me. Gag. I can’t believe I just wrote that. But seriously I need to get my arse in gear, but I feel like this next week of festivities and sleep is just too good an opportunity and a poor time to attempt to shift out of neutral. Only the new year makes sense. By then my organisation is going to be tip-top, with college work and revision at its peak because otherwise it’s bye-bye university, and hopefully regular blog updates (fingers crossed) because I’ve missed this a lot.

When I was younger I don’t think I ever thought my life would be this chaotic at 17. Balancing college and a part-time come full-time job is not as easy as I once thought it might be. And then Christmas comes around. I still can’t believe it’s the eve of Christmas Eve. Wasn’t September last week? It got to last weekend before I realised it was almost a week away and I had bought n o t h i n g! It was a chaotic day of last-minute shopping and wrapping but I’m finally organised. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much money leave my bank account in one month. Bye-bye Niamh treats for a while. But it’s all worth it. Now that I earn my own money there’s nothing I love more than giving my family presents that I’ve bought and thought about. And there’s no moment I love more than waking up in my new PJ’s on Christmas Day, even if it never feels like Christmas any more. I’d love to be 5 again.

Anyways so in my avoidance of life I’ve spent most of my time wrapped up in a cocoon in the cave I call bed. I’ve been watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix and I am LOVING it. So so good. It’s such an easy watch and one of those TV shows where you fall so in love with some of the characters and relationships. What’s not to like? I’ve also been listening to Little Mix’s new album Glory Days on repeat. It’s quite bad really. Not the album, my obsession. You know when you get to that point that you’ve listened to Spotify shuffle an album so many times you know what song is going to come on next. But it’s just so good. If you haven’t listened to it already then where have you been, I mean at least I’ve been in a cultured cave.

Now occasionally I’ll watch videos on YouTube and I have a few people I rarely miss a video of. However this month has been ridiculous with about 40 new videos a day so I haven’t really been on it. When I have made that dreaded click I always land on Hannah Renee or Rachel Leary’s videos for some good gift inspiration or more than likely some holiday make up looks and some make up recommendations to add to the Christmas list. These two girls are so amazing at make up however that it gets to the point I don’t even want to bother attempting any of it because it’ll just be a lost cause. But we can watch and dream. If you need any Xmas or NYE night out looks for the next week I’d definitely give them a peep. In all this free time (that was guiltily not supposed to be free) I’m gutted that I’ve not had any books to read, but once Santa has hopefully dropped some new books off I’m aiming to squeeze them in, in my week of freedom. I’m also aiming to write about the best books I’ve read this year next week, fingers crossed.

Now I couldn’t do this much blabbing without mentioning some classic Christmas films I’ve watched to fill my time. I watched The Grinch for the first time all the way through with my cousin and sister the other day and loved it a lot more than I thought I would. I also watched Arthur Christmas for the first time yesterday and I think that definitely comes to the top end of my favourite films, I loved the elves in it. I only have a short amount of time left before the big day though and I’ve not watched Elf or The Holiday yet which I’m pretty upset about, so I definitely need to find some time to squeeze that in otherwise it definitely won’t feel like Christmas. But don’t worry, I’ve¬†already watched Home Alone and Nativity! Twice.

Well that’s enough babbling from me, but it was good to write for the first time in a long time. Next week I will definitely be posting a ‘Year of Favourites’ about my favourite things this year. But for now..

Thanks for reading. Until next time.

PLL Mid Season Finale Thoughts

It’s been 2 days since the PLL Season 7A finale aired on Netflix and I’m still reeling, so I thought what better way to fully process the episode then write down my thoughts on here.

First of all I was super impressed with the episode, like overall it was everything the show had been missing throughout season 6. AND it had all the intensity the last A reveal was missing, which is partially disappointing to know they could have achieved something so much better in that episode if it was done right, but hey ho let’s move on.

After all the years I’ve spent watching this programme, and as sad as I am to see it coming to an end, it’s relieving to know (well, hope) that the last 10 episodes are going to be as amazing as that one, one can only dream. Because, to be honest, the show does need to end soon, the can’t drag it out much longer, so it only makes sense to end on the highest note possible and give the credit where it’s due for an overall amazing show. I’m hoping for a return of the season 3 and 4 vibes.

As with any PLL episode however, I feel like I left the episode with 100 more questions than I started it with; who shot Spencer? Why are Noel and Jenna defending Charlotte? What’s their motive? Why was Mary at the creepy house? Why was Sydney even needed in the ep? Marlene fought for that actress to star in PLL for a one line return? Really? Who’s Spencer’s dad? Is it the same as Charlotte’s? WHO IS A FREAKIN D????

Questions, questions, questions. And hopefully 7B gives the answers to all of these along with the many other questions left from previous seasons. (I still wanna know what happened to Eddie Lamb, give me answers Marlene King!)

On a brighter note, everyone’s favourite ships were in full swing, even if they were partially controversial (I mean seriously Caleb was with Spencer like two days ago and now Haleb have slept together – nice logic PLL!) BUT we all love Haleb, and they’re back. Spoby reunited in an emotional goodbye come Romeo and Juliet death story. Emison is alive and prospering, but Emily has like three girls on the go at the moment so we’ll see what happens there. And my emotions ran unnaturally high when a part of Ezria died thanks to Nicole (are we allowed to silently root for Jason? I think so.) With every silver lining comes a cloud right? So with every PLL ship comes its problems…

Spoby is sat under a pretty dark cloud right now with both of their lives seemingly hanging in the balance. However, I think we all know Spencer is going to live. Otherwise how is she going to find out about her messed up family tree? Toby is another story. It seems that Keegan Allen is making it too set in stone that his character is gone. He hasn’t snapchatted on set (much like Troian has been in the back of snaps – alive and well) and he’s tweeting a lot of ‘RIP Tobias’ etc. But Mr.Allen, I’m not looking past the fact your character has as many lives as a cat, and Janel also promoted the death of Mona which we all know was not real, so, who do we trust?

As per usual the PLL cast and crew have been unable to keep their mouths too shut in recent interviews post finale. Marlene (writer of PLL) let slip how hard it would be to make the call and kill off a character she loves so much – referring to Toby. They’ve also revealed we will be delving into Spencer’s past with her – we can’t do that if she’s dead. And it has been mentioned that the A.D reveal will not take place in the final episode and they’re nailing it down in the last 5, particularly episode 18.

Waiting until April for the show to return is not going to be very suspenseful if this lot keep their mouths open, however it’s unlikely they’ll give too much away, they DEFINITELY would not slip up to give away the identity of A.D. In my PLL world, I have a few final suspects and suspicions for the identity of A.D. I read a lot of theories on tumblr, some that are better than the actual script, they were in terms of the Charlotte reveal anyway. Personally, I’m all aboard the Wren train. His return to the show for 7B has been confirmed and all A.D signs have pointed towards him for a long time, if he isn’t at least involved, many of my questions for the entirety of the show will go unanswered. On the contrary, I would LOVE Mona to be the final A, PLL loves it full circles and this would be a perfect circle back to the original A. I also read a theory that Caleb is working with her, I will try to edit in links to all my favourite theories tomorrow. I do think Ali would be an interesting final A, and that could possibly link to the books. For me Wren is the shadiest character PLL has ever seen, Melissa would be too but it’s rumoured her schedule is too busy to return to PLL, so for her to have a major part is sadly looking unlikely. Lucas is problematic too, but I struggle to find a link with him. As I said I will try and link in some theories but have a look on tumblr and google if you have time, there are some incredibly clever and dedicated fans out there that will blow your mind.

On that note none of this will be apparent until April. I need to begin my torturous eight month countdown whilst I re watch the show pretending I know how to look for clues and that I can figure this show out.

If you have any thoughts or theories, or have read any good ones, please let me know in the comments, I’d love to read them.¬†Please like/follow/share if you enjoyed this post and have a browse of my other posts.

What You NEED to Watch on Netflix

What You NEED to Watch on Netflix

Hi. I’m Niamh. And I’m a binge-a-holic.¬†Seriously, BA (Binge Anonymous) needs to become a thing ASAP, I need help.

However, I like to use my awfully unhealthy obsessions for the good of others so I’m going to give you some of my top ‘must-sees’ on Netflix at the moment. When I started planning this post I was thinking, this might not be such a good idea I mean, when can I ever find anything to watch? UK Netflix is awful compared to the US one (totally unfair still). That was until I realised that I only think Netflix is bad because I’ve watched it all… SO there is actually a lot for me to recommend and I actually found it quite hard to sum up. In the end I’ve put together a list of 5 TV series, 5 Rom-Coms (bite me I’m a girl I conform to the chick flick stereotype ok) and 5 other favourites I couldn’t¬†not mention. You might want to grab a snack cos this post is gonna be a long one…

To start off with TV shows my number one would have to be Pretty Little Liars. Now when I started to watch this it wasn’t on Netflix so I had to use other websites but now it’s on there and they update it weekly when it’s airing which is such a blessing thank you God. But anyway I really love films and tv shows with a mysterious/crime related element to them so this hits the spot for me. I could honestly go on about this show all day so if you want a full review on it or anything else I mention let me know in the comments! I won’t lie it has its bad episodes but nonetheless it’s an amazing show you need to try if you haven’t already.

Keeping in with the mystery theme I recently watched the new MTV series Scream in two days (oops). Again Netflix update this weekly as it airs. Now I don’t like horror films but I love the Scream films, and the I Know What You Did Last Summer trilogy which is a similar idea to Scream. I think it’s because they have the mystery element more than horror which I enjoy. I like TV shows that you can theorise about, which you can do with both PLL and Scream. I wasn’t expecting to love Scream as much as I do but it’s so addictive and so so good.

Much like with PLL, I started watching The Vampire Diaries elsewhere as it wasn’t on Netflix when I started it, but now I think they have all the seasons except 7, the most recent one. I’ve recommended this series to a few of my friends who have turned it down because they don’t like storylines with vampires. As much as the programme is obviously based around that idea, it’s also so much more. The characters are incredible and the storylines are so good. They are as I said based a lot on mythical ideas but I beg anyone against these things usually to give it a go it is so worth it.

How to Get Away with Murder. LOVE IT. Such an amazing programme with such a gripping storyline. You can kind of theorise about this one too so again, probably why I’m so obsessed. Now I think Netflix only has Season 1 and Season 2 goes on in September I believe. I got so addicted I had to find somewhere else to watch Season 2. I’d probably recommend waiting until that’s up so you can watch them all in one go but I am super ready for Season 3 to start airing.

The last TV series I’m going to mention is White Collar. When I started watching this I didn’t expect to like it as much as I did. It’s another crime related TV show but the characters are so funny and loveable and Matt Bomer is in it so if that doesn’t persuade you I don’t know what will. Also I’m slightly bias because an actress from my all time favourite TV show One Tree Hill, Hilarie Burton, makes an appearance. Now I believe they’ve just put the last season of this on Netflix so I need to catch up and finish it off and probably cry.

Wow, okay. Onto those soppy Rom-coms. So the film to my favourite book which I mentioned in¬†this¬†post, Love Rosie, is on Netflix. I cannot explain my love for this anymore honestly, just watch and read and fall in love as much as I did. Next to mention is Endless Love. This film has all of those unrealistic first love goals rolled up into one montage along with every bit of drama you could ask for in a film and a gorgeous red dress that I need in my life ASAP. Now, when I started planning this post I thought my all time favourite Nicholas Sparks film, Safe Haven, was still on Netflix but they seem to have taken it down (insert sad face here, boo you Netflix.) However, they do have¬†The Best of Me which came out in 2014 and is obviously an incredible Rom-Com because it’s a Sparks one so give that a go. Another one of my all time favourite films on here is¬†Abduction, now this probably isn’t as much of a romance as the others but it does have some love in there. It is such a good film with a really fun story line, I love action films and this has some rolled into there which makes it so fun. Also it has Taylor Lautner in it so you can’t go wrong. On the Lautner topic my last thing to mention is the¬†Twilight Saga which has recently been added to Netflix. The first one is a bit cringe but the last two are AMAZING. Same with what I said about¬†TVD – give it a go because it’s not all about vampires, it’s still so good.

As I said there’s five other things I love that I couldn’t really categorise but I have to mention. My favourite comedian Jack Whitehall has both of his live shows¬†on there so if you need a laugh give those a watch. Gets Around is probably my favourite. My love of musicals and live theatre was fulfilled by the addition of Grease: Live to the Netflix library. Obviously you cannot beat the original Grease but this is an amazing remake and Vanessa Hudgens, Julianne Hough and Jordan Fisher are incredible and my faves so I love. Another TV show that isn’t in my top 5 is amazing nonetheless is Once Upon A Time. It’s all about fairytales and it is so interesting to see how they fit them into a ‘real world/modern’ aspect. Penultimately I have to mention Clueless because if you haven’t seen the classic that is Clueless you need to get your clicking down to Netflix. And FINALLY a family/kid film favourite of mine, Rise of the Guardians, is on there and I really love this film. If you want something to watch with your family, or siblings or out babysitting then this is one for you.

Yikes that was a lot longer than anticipated, I feel like I’ve typed the equivalent of a marathon and unbelievably there is a lot I’ve missed and had to cut out. I’m still shocked I found this much that I love. However I’m still praying for international Netflix because the US one has everything I dream of. There is also rumours of all the Disney films going on Netflix in September so look out for that because I know I will be.

An Introduction..

Hello there.

SO, it has taken me a very long time to do this but I am finally posting one of my 64528394 drafted blog posts from the past two years. I’ve been wanting to start a blog for such a long time, but whether it be college or courage, something has always been in the way.

Anyway, I thought I’d open my blog with a cliche ten things about me, until I realised my life isn’t interesting enough to list ten things… Instead, I’m just going to write a little bit about me and my interests and some things you can hopefully expect from this blog.

As you have probably gathered my name is Niamh, I am 17 years old and from good old Manchester, UK. I’d like to describe myself as creative, bubbly and sadly highly opinionated. I have a huge interest in fashion as when I was younger my biggest dream was to be a fashion designer. Oh how naive. Make-up is also a developing interest of mine so I may try and include some of that here.

I am also a TV addict, binge watching TV series is both my best talent and worst hobby. My favourites have to be One Tree Hill (RIP), Pretty Little Liars and How to Get Away with Murder, among many others, all of which will most likely be making appearances on this blog.

Another big interest of mine is music. It saddens me to admit that I am a hardcore fan girl, long overdue retirement, but too far past caring. The Vamps and Cody Simpson are those I have fallen to, so again expect to see them pop up every now and again. However, looking past those, my music taste does vary widely from pop princess Ariana Grande to bands like Catfish and the Bottlemen.

Well that was a short but sweet introduction to this blog, and hopefully enough to gain some readers. I’m going to aim to update this blog as regularly as possible although I haven’t set a date to that yet. But hey, if you’re reading this, a blog draft finally got posted, so I’m slowly making progress, and this is most likely me now..
